Have Fun with Horses - Children's Riding Lessons

The “Have Fun with Horses” riding lessons are designed for children ages 3 to 16 who enjoy spending time with horses and want to learn about them.

The lessons cover everything related to horses: respect for the horses, grooming and caring for them, and much more.

The focus of these lessons is on the fun the children have with the horses, without pressure or too much technical training.

For this lesson, a parent must accompany their child to hold the horse while the child rides.

The lesson usually takes place in the pasture at the Extreme Trail Park. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, instead of going to the trail park, we’ll take a walk through the woods if the weather and conditions permit. For this ride, too, we need a parent to walk alongside and help as needed. The horses like to graze, and the children may need some help from a parent even if they can already ride. Those who can ride on their own are, of course, welcome to do so, but a parent will be nearby to help if needed. It’s also a different riding style than traditional “English-style” riding. We ride bitless in Western style on a real Western saddle.

For all horseback riding activities:

• You’ll head out to the pasture with the guide to pick out your own horse, brush it, and help saddle it. This gives you a chance to bond with your horse and get used to it. It’s more relaxing for both rider and horse when you do this yourself.
• After saddling up, everyone receives an explanation of Western riding so you’ll have the basics down before you actually start riding. You’ll learn to steer with your legs and weight and learn neck reining—steering via the neck. All ranch horses are ridden without a metal bit, using a so-called side-pull!
• Maximum weight: 75 kg
• Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes for all riding activities!
