Anita Teunissen

(born 1972), before moving to Sweden, lived in Valkenswaard, Netherlands. She has been horseback riding since she was ten years old and loves all kinds of animals. She has always been fascinated by Indians and has always loved bison. Anita started riding western when she was eighteen and never wanted to do anything else.

She knew for a long time that one day she would start a western ranch. When she bought Björkhaga, that dream became a reality. A big step to leave familiar Holland, but of course great! She still does this work with full devotion!

Anita has been giving riding lessons to children since she was sixteen years old. She organized competitions and mini pony camps and around her eighteenth birthday she bought her first horse: the one and a half year old palomino Welsh Cob gelding Sun Dance Kid (Dancer). She rode Dancer herself and when he was six years old, they qualified to compete in the Dutch championships. Unfortunately, Dancer died (far too young!) on the operating table of colic and it took Anita more than a year to be ready for a new horse.

Day and Night

After a long search she looked into a pair of dark eyes and without seeing what kind of horse it was, she knew: THAT IS HIM! Love at first sight: she bought the 5-year-old American Paint Horse stallion Day N Night!

Night, then still green as grass (but already approved as a stud), was saddled and trained. After that, she often went to competitions with him. Anita took many lessons and clinics with Wim Buijst, Peter Simons and Frank Siebens.

Many years of competitions followed. She participated in Pleasure, Trail and Horsemanship competitions throughout the Netherlands and Belgiumë. And they even achieved several good results at the Dutch championships.

Anita gave western riding lessons at riding school De Kempen in Eersel and also helped regularly with the organization of the riding school. She was also active behind the scenes for the organization of the NK. Although she always enjoyed doing this, her heart is no longer with the competition sport.

Anita has extensive experience in giving western riding lessons, providing entertainment, organizing and guiding multi-day rides, competitions and more. This is partly due to her 5 years of management experience at a large western club (Western Movement Eersel) and her own company (Anita & Zo, Dance Discovery/Western Movement Dancers).

She was even responsible for the club magazine and the design of flyers and posters.

Anita also worked at a company where she was responsible for desktop publishing: designing and formatting magazines, flyers, course folders, and so on.

She still passionately puts all these experiences to use on her ranch.

Anita has always been a busy bee and already had her own business in the Netherlands: a dance school with lessons in different dance styles (line dance, freestyle and international folk dance). She provided performances and workshops in banquet halls and at staff parties, as well as street festivals, etc.

She participated in international competitions. Anita even became Belgian, English and Swiss champion and her children's team became Dutch champions.

Anita made her own choreographyën and mixed her own music to her dance choreographyën! She participated three times in the World Championships (individual intermediate line dance, choreography and teams) where she and her students achieved good results in different parts.

Together with Night, Anita completed a month's internship with Marijke de Jong (www.straithnesstraining.com) for both theoretical knowledge and riding skills. She attended two three-day riding courses at the Two Lazy 7 Ranch in Belgiumë.

In addition, Anita took several courses on working with your feelings. She is also a Reiki Master and can give people and animals energetic healing, through which the personal energy channels (of humans and animals) open up again and a healing process starts.

She has completed 2 courses at 2 Lazy 7 Ranch in Belgiumë.

In addition, owning her own ranch and herd also provides the necessary insights and experiences! A combination of all these elements is applied in daily work, in her training and riding classes, and during retreats.

In this, Night has always been her great teacher and the inspiration for writing and developing trainings on how to be more horse-friendly with your horse: Are you and BIB (bitless, ironless, boxless) with your horse!

Sadly, Day N Night passed away from colic on December 1, 2025 at the age of 32.

Anita also spent a year of intensive horse coaching (coaching with the help of a horse) training and graduated in May 2015. So she is now also a certified horse coach with the Center for Horse Coaching, where she uses horses to coach people in their personal development. In 2018, she successfully completed the advanced training to become a children's coach. She does this coaching using horses passionately and has many new opportunities and plans! Anita loves using horses to help people!

On the business front, she attended the Kurbits training in Sweden, focusing on marketing for tourism companies and designing training courses, with the common thread of your business. She also enjoys taking mini-courses and workshops from Visit Värmland and Hagfors Community on digital marketing, tourism, and so on. She is a fan of Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi and takes several training courses and AI courses from them.

Anders Skoglund

In December 2013, Anita found her partner in Swede Anders Skoglund. He supports Anita, the ranch and the new ideaën 100%. Together they are determined to grow the ranch and make the most of it!

Anders is also very muchïinterested in the whole western scene and has added his Irish cob Moa and Shetland pony Kalle to the herd. For him, it is a dream come true to run the ranch with Anita and help where he can!

Since March 2015 Anders has also been at the ranch full-time and can use his experience as a welder, auto mechanic and electrical engineer very often! Anders also enjoys being behind the bar and chatting with guests. Everyone loves him!
